Name is a work in progress in case your wondering.
Because of people requesting shields (energy, physical) and that one point in the past I saw a Dev say something about a deployable shield (energy) I thought, "Well, what about people who prefer physical walls?" as well as being an equipment that can be used to support AV and infantry.
(Looks similar to the repair tool) Sprays something (nanites, chemical, barrels of bricks) onto/at the target. The thing it sprays hardens and locks up joints in suits and wheels and treads in vehicles.
When fired at terrain it builds up, forming mounds, allowing a person to build using this to create makeshift walls and barricades as well as other things.
Example of it as AV:
Tank driving around but every time your AV tries to take it down it hits a speed booster and flees. You realize it always flees using the same path, so you go and block it up with the sprayer. AV hits tank, tank tries to flee, finds itself cornered because of the wall you made. While it's shooting down the wall you run up to it and spray the treads and the turret, reducing turret rotation and movement speed. AV shows up and finishes the tank off while it's helpless.
Example as a building tool:
Your team is defending an objective but there isn't really any good cover. A logi takes out a sprayer and starts to form a makeshift wall to hide behind. Logi finishes with a wall blocking off the view of an enemy sniper and several chest high walls for the infantry as well as a few pillars that will slow tanks trying to flank.
Some things about it:
- Uses ammunition so it will need to reload and restock
- The material it sprays can be destroyed
- It slows Large turrets, small turrets, tank treads, LAV wheels, and infantry (if you spray enemy infantry with it instead of shooting them with a gun for some reason)
- When sprayed on a vehicle it appears on the vehicle and can be shot off
- It will not appear on infantry and cannot be shot off
- When sprayed on a vehicle, turret, or person it will wear off on its own as they move it. So if a tank wants to turn at full speed it will need to turn for a bit to grind away the material
The main problem I find with this equipment is as follows: Objectives
Imagine a really tough battle to take an objective, but you win the siege and go in to hack the objective... only to find someone sprayed a several meter thick wall around the objective. Now you have to tear down the wall whilst dealing with all the respawning enemies |
